Jazz Dance Terminology
Part III
During my first year of dance in college, Gus Giordano was one of the faculty for the Maryland
Councilf for Dance's 19th Annual Maryland State Dance Festival. As a first year student I was new to the various dance
forms and pretty much all dance vocabulary. My instructors still encouraged me to audition for a scholarship during
the festival. I had no clue what I was doing, all dressed in pink and black, trying to follow everyone else that actually
new what tendu, soutenu, develope', pot de bourre, chasse, glissade, grande jete meant! Needless to say, I did
not get a scholarship during the scholarship auditions. However, I took all of Gus Giordano's classes and he apparently
saw something in me that the judges did not. Mr. Giordano made sure that I received a scholarship to attend the next
year's festival. That's my story and that is why you get to take a closer look at Gus Giordano. Click on the following
link and list 5 things that you find intersting from Giordano's site. When you finish, submit this to the instructor.
